Recruitment of Medical Officers into the Ghana Health Service

Following a Financial Clearance granted by the Ministry of Finance for the recruitment of Medical officers, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) wishes to inform the general public, particularly, Medical Officers who were given financial clearance on 15th January 2019, and assigned to GHS, that it will commence recruitment process into the agency from Wednesday, 3rd April, 2019. Therefore, Medical Officers who are part of this group whose clearance has been received and intend to work in the various regions under the Ghana Health Service are requested to formally apply online by logging onto the online application portal  https://mohcrp.com  and follow relevant instructions to select the preferred region with available vacancies. Ken Ofori Atta is Finance Minister Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has bemoaned that the President Akufo-Addo’s administration has been facing tough times healing the Ghanaian economy which he said was broken under former President Mahama’s government. He noted that the healing process has not been easy; ‘it has been tough; it has been restraining.’ According to him, “the economy under the Mahama’s administration was in severe crisis.” He said the economy was broken but has had to be fixed by the President Akufo-Addo’s administration. Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot thrice on January 16 Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of undercover journalist with Tiger Eye PI, Ahmed Hussein-Suale. Legal Practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini After 19 years, Parliament has finally passed the Right to Information bill but a campaigner says there is no mood for celebration. “It has been very exhausting,” Samson Lardy Anyenini, who is a member of the RTI coalition, summed up in a concerted struggle to push Parliament to act. The bill is meant to operationalise Article 21 (1) (f) of the Constitution which states that “All persons shall have the right to information subject to such qualifications and laws as are necessary in a democratic society.” It was first drafted in 1999 under the auspices of the Institute of Economic Affairs. Security forces separating violent conflict between Chokosis and konkombas in Chereponi in the North East region have captured a 26 year old hardened member of a notorious Togolese mercenary gang allegedly hired into the porous district to assist in the renewed land related clashes among the two long-standing indigenous neighbours. This comes after repeated assertions by both factions that foreign fighters had invaded the area, some in military uniforms and using hard-body pickup vehicles, unleashing indiscriminate rogue operations including raiding villages of their targets and ambushing fleeing civilians. Parliament suspends approval of Bono region minister-designate

Parliament House of Ghana Parliament has put on hold the approval of Minister-designate for the newly created Bono region Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson over her academic credentials with 18 others sailing through. Allowing Benito to Go Unopposed is Unconstitutional - Group

Benito Owusu Bio A group calling itself Concern Youth of Atwima Nwabiagya North are describing it as unconstitutional, attempts by the constituency executives to allow Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon Benito Owusu Bio to go unopposed in the party’s approaching parliamentary primaries. According to the group, the constituency executives in a series of meetings with the polling station executives concluded that nobody wi ll be allowed to contest the sitting MP, a decision most of the polling station executives are not happy with. Starting from first week of April, the constituency executives will send an endorsement forms to all the polling station executives to sign as they only need 40% and above the MP. EC deploys personnel to inspect party offices

EC Chairperson-Jean Mensah The Electoral Commission (EC) has deployed personnel to inspect the offices of political parties and also check on their activities. The exercise is scheduled to take place tomorrow in all 10 previously existing regions across the country. Already, the EC has inspected the National offices of political parties and will continue with the inspection in districts after the regional inspection. The exercise is backed by the Political Parties’ Act, (Act 574) which insists that all political parties have a nationwide presence, including having offices at the national and regional levels and in two-thirds of districts across the country. However, there are growing concerns that the EC has been lenient on political parties which are said to show up during elections, only to fold up afterwards. Last member of National Liberation Council junta dies

Major Gen. Albert Kwesi Ocran, the last member of the National Liberation Council (NLC), the military cum police junta that overthrew Dr Kwame Nkrumah in 1966, has died. He died at the weekend in his hometown, Brakwa in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District of the Central Region at the age of 89, a family spokesperson said. Maj. Gen. Ocran was born on July 21, 1929 and was commissioned as an officer in the Gold Coast Regiment of the United Kingdom's Royal West African Frontier Force in 1954. He later rose to become a Colonel in the Ghana Army after independence. He was the commander of the First Infantry Brigade of the army, now known as the Southern Command, at the time of the coup d'état in 1966. Maj. Gen.
