NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY BEGINS PILOTING OF DISTRICT OFFICES.


 The National Identification Authority is currently undertaking a nationwide mopup registration exercise and is also piloting 23 District offices in 5 Regions including the Ashanti Region.

The District Offices currently being piloted are only providing registration services to persons who have not had the opportunity to register for the Ghana Card.

Other services such as Update of records, Replacement of lost or damaged cards have not started. Moreover persons whose details were wrongly captured will also have to wait until the NIA starts the update of the Ghana card. 

This circular is thereby informing the general public and especially constituents of the Oforikrom Municipal in the Ashanti region of it's office which is located at Bomso inside the Town council building with the digital address, AK-193-4170.

Applicants who registered during the mass registration and mop up exercise  but for one reason or the other could not pick their cards can now visit the Municipal office for their cards.

It is worth mentioning that people who could not also register or enrol can now do so by visiting the office with either a birth certificate or valid passport. 

Otherwise a family member who has acquired the Ghana card could vouch for the applicant's eligibility. In the absence of a family member, applicant's can provide two people from the following categories as vouchers/guarantors; an Assembly member,  an ordained minister of the gospel, a gazetted traditional King or Queen as well as any public sector worker.

Applicant's are reminded to generate their digital address before visiting the office and also note that the registration is free of charge.

The office operates  from Monday to Saturday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Two staff at Office of Special Prosecutor investigated for stealing fuel

Martin Amidu, Speacial Prosecutor Two employees of the Office of the Special Prosecutor have been indicted for allegedly stealing fuel. Accountant, Peter Owusu Afriyie and Secretary to the Special Prosecutor’s office, Joseph Dasanah, drew almost ¢10,000 worth of fuel monthly even though they are not entitled to it, JoyNews has sighted a memo. A memo from the then acting Head of Investigations, Julius Zodanu, to the Special Prosecutor, detailed how Joseph Dasanah –Amidu’s secretary, and an accountant, both signed for fuel coupons even though, as unconfirmed staff on secondment, neither of them was entitled to it.
