Journalists in Ashanti Region, led by Mr. Kwaku Adu Gyamfi have petitioned the Ghana Journalist Association over a  misconduct of the Ashanti Regional Director of National Service Scheme, Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah aka Omens following a deliberate intimidation and verbal assault on one Gideon Peprah [Nana Peprah] a journalist service personnel who works with GNA. Some irritated service personnel had  expressed their grievances to  the victim to make a publication on a four to five month delayed payment of allowances and purported text messages inviting them for killer interest rate loans by NSS. The Oforikrom District Registration Officer(DRO) of the National Identification Authority, Mr Kwame Owusu Bampoe has said the Ghana Card is free for Ghanaians in the first instance.  However, if you want to register by appointment as an institution or family, you will be required to pay a fee to be determined by the Authority.  Also, renewals and replacements of lost or stolen cards will also attract a fee. The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that, persons requiring a replacement of their national identification card, will be charged at a fee. According to the Authority persons who misplace or damage their cards will be required to report to any nearby office of the NIA, pay the stipulated fee, demand for a receipt and have the card replaced.
