NUGS MEETS MINISTER OF FINANCE ON ISSUES OF STUDENT LOAN TRUST FUND

The National Union of Ghana Students has paid a working visit to the Ministry of Finance to discuss comprehensively, the financial condition of students in the country especially in accessing the Students' Loan and how best the Union together with all stakeholders of the Loan Trust Fund can better resolve the current situation.

The meeting was necessitated due to a number of challenges beneficiaries of the Students' Loan have been through for some time now and to discuss the progress of the Loan Trust Fund in the country.

Some beneficiaries have been denied access to examination rooms because they have arrears with their respective institutions. Others have outstanding accommodation arrears and other personal expenses to settle.

The Union having had several meetings with the Students Loan Trust Fund and student leaders across Ghana, is determined to use all available opportunities to plan on a more reformed loan scheme to ensure that students do not go through the challenges of accessing their loan funds again.

NUGS is pleased to also inform all beneficiaries that the funds have been released and that disbursements will continue to speedily curb all inconveniences they have had to endure these past weeks.

Thomas Barrack: Top Trump aide accused of working as foreign agent

Billionaire and long-time Donald Trump ally Thomas J Barrack have been arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly acting as an agent of a foreign government. Ejura killings: We’ll be open-minded in our report and recommendations – Justice Koomson

After 12 days of public sitting, the three-member committee that investigated the Ejura disturbances has wrapped up its work. The committee set up by the president follows the killing of two people and the injuring of four others by soldiers during a protest against the killing of a social activist, Ibrahim Muhammed. The deceased, also known as Macho Kaaka, died on Monday, June 28, 2021, after he was attacked by a mob while returning home on his motorbike at Ejura. Joseph Boahen Aidoo is Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has charged cocoa farmers to be business minded in operating their farms and to partake fully in the various programmes introduced by COCOBOD to ensure good farm yields and to increase profits.
